What We Are Looking For We are currently seeking a Veterinary Receptionist / Client Service Representative to join our team. Our receptionist is often the first and last person a client interacts with, making this position an important part of both our client experience and our hospital operations. The ideal candidate will be friendly and welcoming while also being able to confidently manage a fast-paced workload. Veterinary medicine can be unpredictable, so we need someone who can prioritize tasks, communicate clearly, and remain professional when the hospital becomes busy.
Responsibilities May Include:
Greeting clients and patients and assisting with the check-in and check-out process Answering and managing a high volume of incoming telephone calls Scheduling appointments and accurately documenting client and patient information Communicating client questions and concerns to the appropriate veterinary team member Processing payments and maintaining accurate client accounts Assisting with prescription refill requests and other client communications Maintaining an organized and efficient reception area Providing compassionate customer service during routine visits as well as stressful or emotional situations Working closely with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and other reception staff Learning and following hospital policies, procedures, and veterinary terminology Maintaining client and patient confidentiality Helping ensure calls, messages, and client requests are handled promptly and appropriately Our Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Dependable and punctual Friendly, compassionate, and professional Comfortable speaking with clients both in person and over the phone Able to multitask without losing attention to detail Organized and able to prioritize in a busy environment Comfortable using computers and learning new software Able to communicate effectively with both clients and coworkers Able to remain calm and courteous when dealing with difficult or emotional situations Willing to learn veterinary terminology, medications, preventative care, and basic hospital procedures A team player who is willing to help wherever needed Comfortable working around dogs, cats, exotic pets, and the sights, sounds, and situations associated with a veterinary hospital Previous veterinary or medical reception experience is a plus, but we are also willing to consider candidates with strong customer service, administrative, telephone, or reception experience who are eager to learn veterinary medicine.
