Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with medical procedures, including administering medications, performing laboratory tests, and monitoring anesthesia during surgeries. Handle animal restraint safely and effectively, utilizing knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy to ensure comfort and safety. Perform laboratory work such as blood draws (phlebotomy), sample processing, and diagnostic radiology procedures. Operate medical equipment including X-ray machines, anesthesia monitors, and other veterinary diagnostic tools with precision. Maintain aseptic techniques during surgical assistance, catheterizations, IV insertions, and other invasive procedures to prevent infection. Provide exceptional pet care by grooming, feeding, and managing pet grooming routines as needed. Manage client communication professionally, scheduling appointments, answering inquiries, and providing education on pet health care. Keep detailed records using veterinary software for patient histories, treatments, laboratory results, and radiology diagnostics. Support emergency medicine efforts by assisting in critical & intensive care situations with appropriate veterinary procedures. Ensure a clean, organized reception area while managing appointment schedules and billing processes efficiently. Requirements Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary or kennel setting is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal handling techniques, and pet grooming practices. Experience with laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy, specimen handling, and diagnostic radiology is desirable. Familiarity with medical equipment operation including X-ray machines, anesthesia monitors, and vascular access devices. Ability to perform IV insertions, animal catheterization, and maintain aseptic techniques during surgeries or invasive procedures. Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration. Knowledge of veterinary software systems for record keeping and appointment management. Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques across various species including dogs and horses. Willingness to learn new skills such as dog training or pet grooming if not already experienced in these areas.
