About Bay Area Retina Associates Bay Area Retina Associates is a group practice of highly experienced ophthalmologists specializing in cutting edge retinal treatments who are dedicated to providing exceptional eye care to our patients. BARA has 10 convenient locations in the Bay Area and has been in the industry for 35 years. Our mission is to be the premier retinal provider, for our communities, by providing high-quality state of the art medical and surgical care to our patients. Bay Area Retina Associates is looking for a Front Desk Coordinator to join our team. The Front Desk Coordinator will be responsible for the following: Check patients in; update demographic and insurance information, collect signatures as needed. Check out and make follow-up appointments. Answer telephones and make appointments via computer scheduling. Schedule maintenance and upkeep. Relay phone messages to the doctors in a timely manner. Check eligibility, obtain authorizations, process referrals, drug inventory. Cash handling and end of day reconciliation, collect copays and balances. Perform recalls Sort mail and faxes Assist with rooming, rinsing, and numbing patients, as needed.Other Responsibilities:
Other duties as assigned by Clinical Operations Manager, or physician.Accountabilities:

Excellent patient relations Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Excellent communicationExperience:
One year of past medical clinic or front desk experience preferred.Education Required or Equivalent:
Minimum high school diploma. College degree or continuing education courses desirable. Physical Standards, including lifting and pushing requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of scheduled shift or more, be able to frequently move about the office to direct patients, access office supplies, and equipment, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to communicate with patients to convey necessary medical and financial information and document accurately in EMR and practice management system.Travel requirements:
Regular travel to up to 3 assigned clinic locations, Fremont, Castro Valley, and San Leandro. Periodic travel to other clinic locations as needed.Equipment:
Position requires the use of telephone and office equipment such as computers, copier, fax, and scanner. Position requires the use of medical equipment such as pharmaceutical refrigerators. List any unique conditions of the position: OSHA Classification Category II. Job duties include no exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks.
