In this vital role, you will manage front desk operations, facilitate seamless client communication, and support veterinary staff with administrative and animal care tasks. Your energetic approach will help create a welcoming environment that ensures every pet and owner feels valued and cared for from the moment they walk through our doors. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine customer service excellence with animal handling expertise in a fast-paced veterinary setting. Responsibilities Greet clients warmly, schedule appointments, and manage appointment calendars efficiently using veterinary software. Handle medical collections accurately, process payments, and maintain detailed financial records in compliance with clinic policies. Assist with client communication by providing information about pet care, treatments, and clinic procedures clearly and professionally. Support veterinary staff with medical-surgical tasks such as animal restraint, animal catheterization, and administering medications under supervision. Maintain kennel areas, ensuring proper animal husbandry, cleanliness, and safety protocols are followed at all times. Manage laboratory procedures including sample collection, processing, and recording results while adhering to aseptic techniques. Ensure compliance with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and USDA guidelines during medication handling and record keeping. Perform front desk duties such as answering phones, managing client records, and coordinating laboratory or diagnostic appointments. Assist with animal handling across various species including dogs, cats, equines, and other companion animals while demonstrating knowledge of animal anatomy and restraint techniques. Support veterinary critical care efforts by preparing animals for surgery or examinations as needed. Qualifications Proven experience working in a veterinary clinic or related animal care environment is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, medical-surgical procedures, and pet care practices. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds. Competency in veterinary software systems and Microsoft Office applications for administrative tasks. Experience handling animals safely using proper restraint techniques; kennel experience is a plus. Familiarity with laboratory procedures, aseptic techniques, and drug regulations such as DEA and USDA standards. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of animal husbandry practices across different species including dogs and horses; equine experience is advantageous.
