Evening Receptionist About the
Role:
Lowell School is seeking a welcoming, reliable, and detail-oriented Evening Receptionist to serve as the front desk anchor and central communications hub during our afternoon transitions. Reporting directly to the Director of Auxiliary Programs, you will serve as the primary point of contact for families, visitors, and staff during busy after-school hours. Your primary goal will be to maintain a safe, organized, and child-centered environment—greeting families, managing phone and walkie-talkie communications, coordinating student pickups, and supporting seamless cross-departmental operations with warmth and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Front Desk & Communications:
Serve as the first point of contact for the school, greeting students, parents, staff, and visitors with a warm, professional demeanor, managing the main phone line, taking accurate messages, and screening parent concerns prior to administrator escalation.
Campus Security & Access:
Oversee door management and visitor check-in/check-out procedures, serving as a central communications hub and deploying emergency communications when necessary.
Dismissal & Logistics:
Utilize a walkie-talkie to coordinate child call-outs and pickups with after-school program leads, ensuring safe, smooth, and efficient student transitions.
Cross-Departmental Coordination:
Collaborate effectively with facilities, security personnel, and Auxiliary Programs staff to support daily operations while maintaining meticulous attendance, visitor, and communication records. What You Bring to Lowell Prior administrative or front desk experience in a school setting or educational office (highly preferred). Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, with a calm, solutions-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal communication skills, including professional phone etiquette and clear walkie-talkie protocol. High degree of reliability and consistent attendance, recognizing the critical role this position plays in campus safety and daily operations. Familiarity with school management software (such as CampBrain or SchoolPass) is a plus, but not required.
Schedule & Physical Demands Schedule:
Part-time schedule, Monday through Friday, 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Flexibility and willingness to potentially add weekend hours in the future.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand at a reception desk for extended periods and respond rapidly during emergency situations. Compensation & Benefits Lowell School offers a competitive hourly rate of $18.50 to $20.00 for this part-time position. Lowell School offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
