Job Description
Oak & Paddle is Schaumburg's 9-court indoor pickleball home: climate-controlled courts, a real pro shop, concessions, The Oak Room for events, and a club that's open 5:00 AM-midnight, seven days a week. The front desk is the first handshake and the last impression. We need someone who can run that desk like they own the floor. This is not a sit-and-stare receptionist job. You are the face of the club, the traffic controller for 9 courts, and the person members remember when they tell a friend to come play. What you'll do Greet every member and guest by name when you can, check them in, and get them onto the right court without friction
Run CourtReserve:
reservations, walk-ins, open play, skill events, waitlists, cancellations, and account updates Sell and explain memberships (Diamond Elite through visitor play), court time, events, lessons, and pro shop items — accurately, without the hard sell Process payments cleanly: memberships, court fees, retail, concessions, rentals Answer phones, texts, and in-person questions like a human who actually knows the club Give short tours and help first-timers feel like they belong in the first five minutes Keep the lobby, desk, restrooms, and common areas tight — wipe, restock, notice what's off, fix it Support leagues, clinics, open play, and private events when the floor is busy Flag problems early (no-shows, court conflicts, a member who's frustrated) instead of letting them pile up Close and open the desk to checklist: cash/POS, lights, doors, notes for the next shift Who we hire Warm, fast, and unflappable when three people walk in at once High ownership: you don't wait to be asked to wipe a counter or solve a booking snag Comfortable with software and POS; CourtReserve training is provided, but you have to like systems Clear communicator — members, coaches, and managers all get the same straight answer Available for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This club runs 19+ hours a day; the desk has to match Customer-service or hospitality experience preferred. Pickleball knowledge is a plus, not a requirement. We'll teach the sport. We won't teach attitude. Must be able to stand most of a shift, lift retail boxes (~25 lbs), and pass a background check Schedule Part-time and full-time shifts available. Early openers and late closers are the most valuable. Reliable availability beats a perfect résumé. What we offer Competitive hourly pay (DOE) + opportunity for extra hours as the club grows Employee discount on play, events, and pro shop Commissions on sales (memberships, pro shop, private events) A workplace that's actually fun if you like people and the game Room to grow into ops, events, or retail if you prove it How to apply Apply here with a short note: when you can work (especially mornings / nights / weekends) and one example of a time you made a guest or customer feel taken care of under pressure.Pay:
