Job Description
Summary of Job Scope & Responsibilities:
The Museum Front Desk Associate serves as the direct and primary contact for all museum visitors, welcoming and interacting with visitors at the front desk to ensure a positive, friendly and safe experience for all. Museum Front Desk Associate will operate the point-of-sale system and promote sales of memberships, DO!zeum shop merchandise, birthday party rentals and museum programs.Essential Job Functions:
1. Maintains staff presence at the front desk- Interacts with all visitors in a friendly, professional manner, delivering exemplary customer service.
- Maintains a professional appearance, dress (Business Casual dress) hair and hygiene.
- Promotes and sells memberships at the front desk, processing new memberships and renewals in the database to be given and/or sent to members. Sending out reminders of expiration of memberships.
- Records attendance data and other types of visitor information as assigned.
- Operates cash register in accordance with proper cash handling procedures as per Business Managers directives.
- Completes end of day drawer counts and all paperwork at the end of shift, as assigned by Business Manager.
- Maintains a orderly workstation and contributes to the tidiness of all common work areas.
- Answers all calls and directs calls to proper staff members as needed. Take proper messages as needed.
- Maintains a current knowledge of museum programs and events to be able to answer questions from visitors and phone calls.
- Keep a full stock of brochures and flyers in the front area for visitors to have access as needed.
- Reinforce museum guidelines for behavior.
- Restock DO!zeum Shop supplies, promote sales, inventory needs, and keep an eye on visitors to anticipate needs within front, DO!zeum Shop and main exhibit areas.
- Assist with tour groups as they check in and are directed where to wait for welcome and orientation by Museum Educator or other staff. Secondary Job Functions
- Does data entry tasks and mailings.
- Assists with other museum events both on and off site as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Necessary Qualifications/Requirements- Age 18 or over
- Have reliable transportation.
- Ability to relate well to people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to work well with others as a team player
- Basic understanding of computers and cash registers.
- Math skills sufficient enough to compare figures and add, subtract, multiply, and divide figures. Preferred Knowledge and skills
- High school diploma (or equivalent) preferred.
- Intermediate computer skills in Word, Qutlook; Excell and PowerPoint, Canva.
- Experience working with children
- Experience with cash handing is preferred.
