Job Description

Position Summary The Receptionist is often the first point of contact for patients, visitors and community members. This team member creates a welcoming, respectful and supportive experience while completing essential administrative tasks that help the hospital run smoothly. All actions should reflect our ICARE values and our mission to serve our community with compassion and excellence. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Greet every patient and visitor warmly, using a calm, friendly tone Assist patients who need support by offering a wheelchair and/or personally walking them to their destination Keep the main entrance stocked with clean, available wheelchairs by checking other departments, as needed Provide clear directions and help guests feel valued and supported Answer incoming calls promptly, using professional and courteous communication Transfer calls to the appropriate department or individual Use the listen, clarify, confirm approach to ensure information is accurate and understood Occasionally provide financial and administrative support Clean and wipe down wheelchairs during downtime to maintain safety and patient comfort Sort incoming mail, deliver it to the correct mailboxes, and apply postage to all outgoing mail Additional duties as assigned High school diploma Demonstrates excellent writing skills, understands medical terminology, and is computer literate (word processing and other relevant software) Has worked in a position where high levels of confidentiality were maintained Note This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) in this position.
