N/A SUMMARY
Under supervision of the City Administrator, the Receptionist performs customer service and administrative activities to provide information to the general public. Provides secondary support for the Administration and Finance departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Acts as the first point of contact for all inquiries and maintains a positive atmosphere.
  • Greets the public and determines the purpose of each person's visit and directs the individual to the appropriate location.
  • Answers, screes, and directs phone calls to the correct department.
  • Receives mail, documents, packages, and courier deliveries and delivers or distributes items.
  • Orders and distributes supplies to multiple departments.
  • Assists City departments with administrative and clerical support tasks, including filing and recordkeeping.
  • Works safely, follows safe work practices, and identifies and reports unsafe work conditions.
  • Provides secondary support for the Administration and Finance departments when time is available.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Experience with handling of money and financial transactions.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with peers, superiors, other City departments, vendors, contractors, external government agencies and organizations.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in a local government office environment.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
The position requires the incumbent to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to meet frequent deadlines. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent to regularly sit and talk or hear. The incumbent is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle or feel. The incumbent is occasionally required to stand and walk. The incumbent may be required to occasionally perform a full range of motion with lifting and/or carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.
