Job Description

Receptionist General Summary:
This position is responsible for checking in and out of appointments for any of the services provided in the clinic and answering phones coming into reception. Hours vary for each person from opening the office at 715 to closing office at 430pm.
General Duties:
 Collecting of co-pays and balances  Answer reception calls and schedule patients for appointments  Assist patients with portal questions  Assist patients with transferring their call to nurse  Checking providers schedules ahead of time checking AWV/MWE visits making sure not scheduled too soon.  Scheduling of new patient appointments of assigned MD and mailing the appropriate paperwork for their first visit at the clinic.  Communicating with the nursing staff if patient running 10 minutes or more late for appointment.  Assist with walk-in patients or family members  Making sure patients correct insurance is entered into the Athena system  Answering questions regarding insurances we accept or do not accept  Assist with reporting or special projects as directed by administration  Complete annual OSHA and HIPAA training requirements  Maintain patient confidentiality  Other duties as assigned, IE cleaning of kitchen
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
 Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously; problem solving and quantitative skills important, self-motivation and initiative required.  Ability to communicate effectively and clearly utilizing good customer service skills.  Must be able to work under minimal supervision.  Knowledge of medical terminology, computer programs and systems.  Skill in identifying and resolving problems.
