Job Description
Acuity Eyecare has served Salem, NH since 1987 — a family-owned practice where patients are known by name, not chart number. We're looking for a Front Desk Receptionist to be the first warm voice on the phone and the first welcoming face in our lobby, setting the tone for every visit. This is more than an administrative role — it's the heartbeat of the patient experience. We're a small, close-knit team that works hard for our patients, and just as hard to support each other and avoid burnout. Who We're Looking For Our team recently defined what matters most in how we work together, and one thing came up unprompted from everyone: be kind and professional . We're looking for someone who leads with that, brings genuine attention to detail, follows through, and jumps in to help teammates — someone who enjoys helping others and takes pride in their work. Attention to detail matters most in this role. A missed insurance verification or incomplete intake form doesn't stay at the front desk — it becomes a billing error, a delay, or extra work for someone else. We need someone organized and careful who double-checks their own work. Responsibilities Greet and check in patients warmly and professionally, confirming demographic and insurance information before they're seated Answer phones promptly and manage the appointment calendar — booking, confirming, and rescheduling accurately Verify insurance benefits ahead of each appointment (not at the chair), flagging any issues early Send appointment reminders and manage no-show and reschedule follow-up Maintain accurate patient records and complete intake documentation Keep the front desk clean, organized, and welcoming — it's the first impression every patient gets Support the broader team and pitch in wherever needed to keep the day running smoothly Qualifications Strong customer service and communication skills — comfortable being the first voice and face patients encounter Strong attention to detail — organized, careful, and consistent about double-checking your own work Dependable; someone who follows through on commitments Comfortable learning computer and office systems (we use RevolutionEHR) A calm, kind, professional demeanor — even when the day gets busy Preferred (Not Required) Experience in a medical, dental, or optometry office Experience with insurance verification or billing Front desk or receptionist experience Bilingual abilities are a plus We're glad to train the right person who fits our culture — skills can be taught, but kindness, reliability, and attention to detail are who you already are. What We Offer Competitive hourly pay based on experience Full-time, stable position on a supportive, tight-knit team Health insurance Employee discounts on eyewear and contact lenses Paid time off, paid sick days, and holiday closures Summer Half-Day Fridays (Memorial Day through Labor Day) Life is Better in Focus… If that sounds like the kind of team you want to be part of, we'd love to hear from you.
