Job Description

Job Overview Kumon of Hazlet is seeking an energetic, organized, and responsible Front Desk Associate to join our team. The Front Desk Associate plays an important role in creating a welcoming and well-organized environment for our students and families. In addition to managing front desk responsibilities, this position involves supervising students who have completed their Kumon work and are waiting for their parents, assisting with parent communication, managing our Kumon Library and reading activities, and ensuring an organized exchange of students' completed and new homework. The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, patient with children, detail-oriented, and comfortable communicating with parents and students in a professional manner. Responsibilities Front Desk & Parent Communication Welcome students and parents in a friendly and professional manner. Answer phone calls and respond to parent inquiries professionally. Communicate important information to parents regarding their children's Kumon progress, classroom needs, upcoming events, holidays, and center closings. Assist with scheduling, general administrative tasks, and maintaining an organized front desk. Provide excellent customer service to Kumon families. Student Supervision & Support Supervise students who have completed their Kumon work while they wait for their parents. Maintain a calm, safe, and productive environment for students. Encourage students to use their waiting time productively through reading and other appropriate activities. Ensure students are reading and demonstrating comprehension of the books they choose. Help students select appropriate books from the Kumon Library and properly check books in and out. Encourage participation in and help enforce Kumon's regular reading challenges and goals. Monitor students' behavior and ensure they follow center expectations while waiting. Ensure students leave the center safely and always with a guardian. Homework Exchange & Student Records Collect completed Kumon homework from students as they arrive. Accurately and efficiently issue students their new homework at the same time. Ensure homework exchanges are organized and completed accurately so students receive the correct assignments. Keep student materials organized and communicate any concerns or missing work to the appropriate staff member. Assist with maintaining accurate student records and paperwork. Kumon Library Manage and maintain the Kumon Library, keeping books organized and accessible. Track books being borrowed and returned. Encourage students to read regularly and choose books appropriate for their reading level. Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting reading area. General Administrative Support Maintain an organized and professional front desk and waiting area. Assist with filing, data entry, inventory, and other basic administrative tasks. Use computers and office software for daily administrative responsibilities. Support the Kumon staff with other tasks as needed to ensure smooth daily operations. Requirements Previous front desk, customer service, childcare, tutoring, or administrative experience is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable communicating professionally with parents and working with children. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Dependable, responsible, and punctual. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a busy learning environment. Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office, email, and data entry. Ability to learn and follow Kumon procedures and center expectations. Patient, positive, and energetic attitude. Must be comfortable working around children and maintaining a safe, respectful environment.
