Job Description

Rye Harrison Veterinary Hospital is growing! After 60 years of caring for the pets and families of our community, we're thrilled to be opening our second location in August 2026 — and we're building our growing team right now. Rye Harrison Veterinary Hospital at Rye Brook is hiring a full-time Front-Desk Receptionist to be the first point of contact for our veterinary clients, playing a crucial role in setting the tone for their visit. We are looking for a customer service professional who excels in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly, and is passionate about animal care. You'll help shape the culture of a brand-new hospital from day one, working in a modern facility outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, alongside teammates who are just as excited as you are to build something special. As a sister hospital to our well-loved flagship Rye Harrison location, you'll have the backing of an established team, proven systems, and a trusted name in the community. Salary:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a 4-day work week, Monday - Friday, and every other Saturday.
Responsibilities:
Greet and check in clients and patients at the front desk, collect intake information, and confirm appointment details in a professional and welcoming manner Answer and manage a multi-line telephone system, directing calls and responding to inquiries regarding scheduling, services, and general information Perform client check-out, including payment processing, posting charges, and scheduling future appointments Provide composed and compassionate customer service to clients experiencing anxiety, distress, or difficult news regarding their pet's health Perform accurate data entry and maintain organized records in the practice management system following onboarding and training Communicate effectively with clinical staff to relay messages, flag urgent situations, and support efficient daily operations Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception and waiting area
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of experience in a front desk, receptionist, or customer service representative role — in a medical, dental, urgent care, veterinary, hospitality, or high-volume service environment Demonstrated customer service skills with strong verbal and written communication, including active listening, managing client inquiries, and conveying information clearly and compassionately Experience with appointment scheduling, multi-line phone management, data entry, and payment processing or point-of-sale (POS) systems Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively and adapt quickly to new systems and workflows in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn electronic medical records (EMR) or practice management software through structured onboarding Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and professionalism, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment Genuine affinity for animals; comfortable working in a clinical environment that includes animal patients About Rye Harrison Veterinary Hospital at Rye Brook Rye Harrison Veterinary Hospital at Rye Brook is the sister location to our original Rye, NY practice, a full-service, AAHA-accredited hospital that has been serving the pets and families of Westchester and Fairfield Counties for over 60 years.
