Job Description:
Germantown Animal Hospital is searching for a knowledgeable, outgoing, and dedicated Veterinary Receptionist with a love of helping animals and people to add to our clinic. We are a very busy clinic that serves cats and dogs in the Germantown and surrounding area. Candidates must work well in a fast-paced setting, and demonstrate a passion for providing high quality care. Strong attention to detail, independent critical thinking, time management, and excellent communication are necessary skills in this position. This is aFULL TIME
position averaging between 35-40 hours per week with some weekends. Qualifications High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education At least 18 years of age Customer service experience is required Excellent communication skills Strong attention to detail Veterinary experience is preferred but not required Ability to work well both within a team setting and independently Knowledge of clerical procedures such as alphabetizing files and records Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work some weekends and holidays Ability to multitask and work well under pressure Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a computer and/or extended periods of time standing and/or walking Some moderately physically demanding work, involving lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds Basic computer skills Reception Duties Establish client relations Greet clients and check them in for their visit Create, update, and/or file patient charts Gather and certify pet and owner information Document preparation Process credit cards, care credit, checks, and cash payments and prepare bank deposits Maintain organization and cleanliness of the reception area Educate clients on preventatives and distribute appropriately Retrieve and review medical records and update the patient profile appropriately Fax and/or email records Answer phone calls which can involve answering questions, scheduling appointments or surgeries, refilling medications, and forwarding phone calls to appropriate parties, etc. Call medications into pharmacies for clients and refill medications in clinic for clients to pick up Explain medication directions, post op instructions, and relay instructions from the doctors/techs to the client Frequently go up and down stairs with up to 32lbs bags of dog food Handle incoming and outgoing mail and email Sometimes may be asked to assist in holding a patient for the doctor or tech Use Windows based computer systems, word processing, email, web search and other skills needed to effectively use the computer software.
