Veterinary Medical Center of Harlingen is seeking a warm, organized, and dependable Veterinary Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our clients and their pets. This is a day-practice position with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule — no overnight, weekend, or on-call shifts. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and genuinely enjoys helping people and animals. Key Responsibilities Greet clients and patients warmly upon arrival and ensure a smooth, welcoming check-in experience Answer multi-line phones, respond to client inquiries, and schedule/confirm appointments Manage the appointment calendar to balance patient flow and doctor availability Process client check-in and check-out, including payment collection and receipt of records Maintain accurate client and patient records in the practice management system Communicate with clients regarding estimates, invoices, and follow-up instructions Coordinate with veterinary technicians and doctors to keep the schedule and exam flow on track Handle prescription refill requests and coordinate with the pharmacy/care team Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front-office and lobby area Support other administrative and front-desk duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Experience in veterinary medicine preferred Prior experience in a medical or customer service front-desk role also considered Genuine comfort and confidence working around animals, including during stressful situations Strong verbal communication skills and a friendly, professional phone manner Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment Basic computer proficiency; experience with veterinary practice management software a plus Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Reliable, punctual, and able to work a consistent Monday-Friday daytime schedule What We Offer Competitive hourly pay, based on experience A consistent day-shift schedule with no overnight or on-call requirements A supportive, team-oriented clinic culture Opportunities for growth and continued training
