Switchboard Operator

Position Overview Provide telephone switchboard and communication support for a VA Medical Center, ensuring all incoming calls, paging, and emergency communications are handled promptly and professionally. Key Responsibilities Answer incoming calls within 3 rings and route appropriately Provide general information and directory assistance

Operate:

Telephone switchboard systems Overhead paging and radio communication systems Handle emergency calls (Code Blue, fire alarms, etc.) Dispatch messages and coordinate emergency communications Assist with outgoing and long-distance calls Maintain accurate logs and records Protect patient information in compliance with HIPAA Qualifications Experience in call center, switchboard, or customer service role Strong communication and multitasking skills Ability to remain calm under pressure Basic computer and phone system skills Healthcare experience (preferred)
