  • 6:00 AM (12 hour shift) Key Responsibilities Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position: Answer and route multi-line telephone calls accurately and professionally Prepare, process, and review documents for accuracy and completeness Create, maintain, and organize filing and record-keeping systems Maintain accurate logs and records Copy, scan, and distribute documents and materials Coordinate communication between departments, staff, and external contacts Qualifications Minimum or "day-one" qualifications: Strong experience working with phones in a work environment (switchboard experience preferred) Comfortable handling a high volume of calls while multitasking Basic computer skills (typing, data entry, email, and use of simple systems) Experience working in an office setting is preferred Ability to stay organized, follow instructions, and remain professional under pressure Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications: Prior switchboard or high-volume phone experience Office clerical or administrative experience Data entry or record-keeping experience Experience using basic office equipment (copier, scanner, fax) Ability to communicate clearly and professionally by phone and in person Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to multitask in a busy office environment Basic computer skills and ability to enter and maintain electronic records Ability to work with general office equipment Ability to organize, file, and retrieve documents efficiently Ability to work accurately with attention to detail Ability to interact with others in a professional, respectful, and sensitive manner About the Role The Utah State Developmental Center (USDC) is seeking a dependable, self-motivated individual to fill an Office Clerk III position supporting our Switchboard operations.
USDC is a state-operated facility in American Fork that provides services and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live on campus. Staff in this role help ensure phone calls and information are handled accurately and routed to the appropriate areas so residents, families, and staff receive timely support. This position focuses heavily on phone communication and call handling. The workload fluctuates throughout the day, ranging from quiet periods to times requiring the ability to manage multiple calls and tasks at once. Location
