PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Associate Director of Admission, the Admission Counselor assists with admission recruitment, outreach, and application review. This position is campus-based.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
This information is intended to be a description of the key responsibilities of the position. The list of essential functions below does not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent in this position. Perform other duties as assigned. Represent the College both on and off-campus to prospective students, families, secondary school counselors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Plan and implement recruitment activities for assigned high schools and territories, including up to 7 weeks of travel. Advise prospective applicants on the admission process and opportunities at Scripps College through virtual and in-person information sessions, virtual and in-person interviews, webinars, college fairs, high school visits, phone calls, and emails. Review on average 600 applications submitted by applicants for admission decisions and participate in admission committees. Contribute to and support the success of various on-campus and virtual programs designed to recruit prospective students by collaborating with a wide variety of departments and offices. Active support for the College's Principles of Community and Institutional Values in the performance of job duties.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Ability to independently perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects. Exceptional public speaking and written communication skills, including editorial and proofreading skills. Excellent computer skills with proficiency/expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, email, and internet research; experience with databases/CRMs preferred. Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment. Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment at all times. Ability to manage confidential information on application review or other admission initiatives. Willingness to see tasks to completion, sometimes necessitating working longer than normal hours or on weekends. Ability to travel. Understanding of the mission of a liberal arts college.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field or any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATES
Must have the ability to safely drive as needed; the candidate's DMV record must meet the College's automobile liability insurance company's requirements.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS
This is a temporary status, full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position. This position is expected to end on or before June 1, 2027, and may be extended upon mutual agreement by both parties. The regular hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Hours may vary and include night and weekends based on needs of the College or department.
Salary rate:
$70,304.00 annualized. The salary rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be sent based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, speciality, and training.

Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal parameters. Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file. Ability to move about. Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages.
