Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Adoption Center Manager to lead our animal adoption and shelter operations with enthusiasm and compassion. In this vital role, you will oversee daily shelter activities, coordinate animal care and placement, and foster a welcoming environment for both animals and prospective adopters. Your leadership will ensure that every animal receives exceptional care and that the adoption process is smooth, transparent, and positive. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and the community. Responsibilities Manage daily operations of the adoption center, ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of animal care Supervise and manage staff, volunteers, and foster caregivers, providing training in proper husbandry, dog handling, animal restraint, and customer service Oversee animal intake, behavior, and medical assessments, vaccination records, and medical treatments in collaboration with the Kennel Manager and veterinary professionals Facilitate pet adoptions by guiding prospective adopters through the process, answering questions about pet care, training needs, and determining suitability Maintain detailed records of animals' health histories, behavioral assessments, and adoption paperwork; maintain employee files. Coordinate pet training sessions or behavioral evaluations along with kennel staff to prepare animals for successful placements Implement and maintain a successful marketing campaign for adoptions and wider visibility for the organization. Orchestrate and plan adoption events and create working community partnerships Ensure the Adoption Center is clean, safe, and welcoming for animals and visitors alike Experience Proven experience in animal handling, kennel experience is highly valued Background in animal welfare, shelter management, or non-profit administration with knowledge of pet health management Prior experience managing a team or supervising volunteers required, preferably in an animal care setting. Experience in marketing; creating content and advertising on social media; Excellent written and public relations skills Ideal candidate would possess dog training skills with the ability to assess behavioral needs and provide basic training guidance Excellent customer service skills to engage with prospective adopters empathetically and professionally Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with animal restraint, transport and cleaning as needed Join us in creating a compassionate space where animals find loving homes!
