About Us The Dance Academy of Virginia, located in McLean and Alexandria, VA offers programs for students ages 2 and up, including pre-professional, children, and adult training in classical and contemporary styles. We are a professional team of experienced teachers and staff who work collaboratively to nurture and support our students through high-quality dance education. Position Overview The Dance Academy of Virginia is seeking an experienced Advanced Jazz Instructor to join our faculty. This role focuses on training intermediate and advanced dancers, including pre-professional and competitive students, with an emphasis on strong technical foundation, performance quality, and stylistic versatility. Responsibilities Teach advanced-level jazz technique classes for teen and pre-professional dancers Choreograph and stage routines for competitions and performances Develop structured lesson plans that challenge and inspire high-level dancers Prepare students for performances, competitions, and potential professional pathways Collaborate with faculty to maintain consistency in training standards Qualifications Extensive professional training in jazz dance (required) Significant teaching experience with intermediate/advanced or pre-professional dancers Strong background in technique, across styles such as contemporary jazz, commercial jazz, and lyrical jazz Experience with choreography for competition and/or stage performance Ability to mentor serious dancers with a balance of discipline, motivation, and encouragement Ideal Candidate Passionate about developing advanced dancers and emerging artists Brings energy, professionalism, and artistry into the classroom Creates a structured, positive, and high-expectation learning environment Comfortable working with motivated, goal-oriented students Schedule & Compensation Weekend and after-school availability required Join Our Team Join our growing organization and work with a passionate and skilled faculty as we train dedicated dancers and build community through exceptional dance education.
