Agricultural Director / CTE Agriculture Teacher (Full-Time, Grades 6-12) 12 month position. Laupāhoehoe Community Public Charter School
  • Big Island, Hawai'i Laupāhoehoe Community Public Charter School (LCPCS) is seeking a passionate and innovative Agricultural Director / CTE Agriculture Teacher to join our team.
This is a unique opportunity to teach and lead the development of a dynamic, place-based agricultural program serving students in grades 6-12 on our 32-acre campus. At LCPCS, we believe in hands-on learning where every student is known, valued, and loved. This role blends classroom teaching with real-world application—transforming land into a living classroom and connecting students to community, culture, and sustainability. Who This Role Is For This position is ideal for an educator who is excited to grow a program and build strong connections within a school community. The right candidate enjoys working with students both in the classroom and outdoors and is motivated to create meaningful, lasting learning experiences. They see land as an extension of the classroom and are energized by the opportunity to develop a program over time. What You Will Do Teach CTE Agriculture courses for grades 6-12 Design engaging, hands-on, project-based learning experiences Integrate agriculture, sustainability, and food systems into student learning Develop and implement a long-term vision for utilizing the school's 32 acres Lead efforts to establish sustainable food production systems Build partnerships with local farms, organizations, and community members Support school-wide integration of agriculture into student experiences What We Are Looking For Valid Hawai'i Teacher License (or ability to obtain) in CTE, Agriculture, or related field Experience working with middle and/or high school students Knowledge of agriculture, farming, sustainability, or food systems Ability to design hands-on, project-based learning Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills Passion for place-based education and working with students in a rural community Why Join LCPCS Opportunity to build and lead a one-of-a-kind agricultural program Work on a 32-acre campus with space for innovation and growth Collaborative, mission-driven school community Located on the beautiful Hāmākua Coast of Hawai'i Island Compensation & Benefits Salary and benefits in accordance with the HSTA collective bargaining agreement Send letter of interest anmd resume
