Skilled at climbing and operating tree maintenance equipment and trucks. Skilled at establishing excellent working relationships with their colleagues. Positive and has a can-do attitude. What you will typically be responsible for: Climbing and working up to fifty-five feet to prune, shape, strip, and remove trees over roadways, in parks, and at other City properties. Using a variety of tree maintenance equipment such as power saws, chainsaws, and other specialized trimming tools. Responding to emergency work orders in all weather conditions. Maintaining a variety of tree maintenance equipment, including aerial lifts, knuckle boom cranes, chippers, stump grinders, and chippers. Supporting team members with maintenance activities. Identifying and reporting hazardous tree conditions, safety hazards, and work conditions. Planting, staking, watering, and mulching young trees. Possession of a valid California Driver's License, Class B, with the ability to drive vehicles with air brakes and a tank endorsement, must be maintained throughout employment with the City of Oakland.
