Job Description
Job Description Amherst Nurseries is hiring a full-time Certified Arborist to lead tree care across both sides of our business — a growing landscape operation and one of the largest production nurseries in the Pioneer Valley. You'll care for trees at every stage, from field-grown stock in our nursery to mature specimens on customer properties across the region. What You'll Do Tree care and pruning — structural and maintenance pruning on customer properties and throughout 20+ acres of nursery stock. Assessing tree health, identifying pests and diseases, and recommending the right treatment or plan. Landscape construction — planting trees, shrubs, and perennials on residential, commercial, and municipal job sites. Proper planting technique, staking, and establishment care that sets trees up to thrive for decades. Nursery operations — fertilizing, pruning, and maintaining growing stock. Digging and balling field-grown trees. Advising on inventory health and helping fill wholesale orders for landscapers and municipalities across New England. Winter work — snow removal for commercial and residential clients, dormant-season pruning, equipment maintenance in our heated workshop, and preparing stock for spring. What We're Looking For ISA or Massachusetts Certified Arborist credential required Professional attitude — works well with customers and coworkers, attends to details efficiently Valid driver's license with a good driving history Comfortable with strenuous work outdoors in all four seasons, including regularly lifting 60+ lbs Able to learn and safely operate our equipment fleet Able to obtain a DOT medical card and OSHA 10 certificate within 10 days of hire Available for winter snow removal work and flexible when weather shifts the schedule
