Arborist Consultant L and T Tree Services is seeking a knowledgeable, motivated, and customer-focused Arborist Consultant to join our team. This position is responsible for evaluating customers' trees and properties, identifying tree-care needs, developing accurate and profitable proposals, and guiding clients through the recommended solutions. The Arborist Consultant will play a key role in building lasting customer relationships and contributing to the continued growth of L and T Tree Services. This is a highly visible position that combines arboricultural knowledge, sales, customer service, and operational coordination .
Compensation:
Base salary plus 2.5% commission Position ResponsibilitiesClient Consultation & Relationship Management Meet with residential and commercial clients on-site to assess their trees, property, and overall tree-care needs. Conduct professional property visits and walk-throughs with customers to understand their concerns, priorities, and long-term goals. Educate customers on recommended tree-care practices, potential hazards, tree health, and maintenance needs. Clearly explain proposed services, timelines, expectations, and pricing to customers. Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients through knowledgeable advice, responsiveness, and exceptional customer service. Follow up with customers regarding proposals, questions, and recommended services. Identify opportunities for additional services while ensuring recommendations are based on legitimate tree-care needs. Tree Assessment & Arboricultural Consulting Inspect trees and surrounding property conditions to identify structural concerns, health issues, hazards, and maintenance requirements. Properly identify common tree species and recognize signs of insect activity, disease, environmental stress, decay, and other plant disorders. Evaluate trees and recommend appropriate services based on tree health, safety, aesthetics, and the customer's objectives. Provide knowledgeable recommendations for tree removal, pruning, stump removal, cabling, bracing, and other tree-care services. Understand the practical application and day-to-day operations involved in tree removal, pruning, stump grinding/removal, cabling and bracing, and related services. Recognize situations that may require additional evaluation or specialized arboricultural expertise. Maintain a strong understanding of industry standards, safe work practices, and current arboricultural best practices. Sales & Proposal Development Develop accurate, detailed, and profitable proposals based on site conditions and customer needs. Estimate the appropriate scope of work, labor, equipment, and services required for each project. Present proposals professionally and confidently while explaining the value of recommended services. Maintain accurate customer and project information throughout the sales process. Work toward established sales and profitability goals while maintaining high standards of customer service and professional integrity. Convert qualified leads into completed projects through timely communication, effective consultation, and thoughtful follow-up. Operations & Internal Communication Communicate effectively with scheduling and office staff to ensure sold work is properly documented and scheduled. Provide accurate information regarding job scope, site conditions, access requirements, customer expectations, and special considerations. Coordinate with production and field crews as needed to help ensure projects are completed according to the agreed-upon scope of work. Maintain clear communication between customers, office personnel, scheduling staff, and production teams. Address customer questions or concerns promptly and work collaboratively with the team to resolve issues. Maintain accurate records of client interactions, proposals, job details, and follow-up activities. Required Qualifications 1-3 years of successful experience in arboriculture sales, consulting, operations, or a related tree-care role. Strong knowledge of tree care, pruning, removal, and general arboricultural practices. Ability to accurately identify common tree species and recognize plant disorders, diseases, and other tree-health concerns. Strong understanding of the day-to-day operations associated with: Tree removal Tree pruning Stump removal/grinding Cabling and bracing General tree health and maintenance ISA Certification is preferred, or the ability and willingness to obtain ISA certification within two years of employment. Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) is preferred but not required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities. Professional, dependable, and customer-service-oriented approach. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple customers, proposals, and projects while meeting deadlines. Ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with office and field teams. Preferred Qualifications ISA Certified Arborist credential. ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ). Previous experience preparing tree-care estimates and proposals. Experience in arboriculture sales or consulting. Familiarity with local tree species, common pests and diseases, and regional tree-care practices. Experience working with residential and/or commercial property owners. Understanding of tree-care industry safety standards and best practices. Ideal Candidate The ideal Arborist Consultant is someone who combines arboricultural knowledge with strong sales and people skills . You should be comfortable working outdoors, meeting customers at their properties, assessing trees and site conditions, and confidently explaining your recommendations. You should also be comfortable taking ownership of the sales process—from the initial property assessment through proposal development, customer follow-up, scheduling, and communication with the production team. A successful candidate will be professional, trustworthy, organized, and motivated to grow both their customer relationships and their knowledge of the arboriculture industry. Compensation This position offers a base salary plus a 5% commission , providing an opportunity to increase overall earnings through successful sales and customer development.
