Job Overview Join our dynamic team as an Arborist Assistant and play a vital role in maintaining healthy, safe, and beautiful urban and rural landscapes. In this energetic position, you will support certified arborists in tree care operations, including pruning, trimming, removal, and planting. Your enthusiasm for outdoor work and passion for horticulture will help ensure our projects are completed efficiently and safely. This paid position offers hands-on experience in arboriculture, landscape maintenance, and tree management techniques, fostering your growth in the green industry. Responsibilities Assist with tree care activities such as pruning, trimming, and planting to promote healthy growth and aesthetic appeal. Operate bucket trucks and other equipment safely to access elevated or hard-to-reach areas of trees. Support rigging operations for tree removal or branch pruning using arborist rigging techniques to ensure safe and controlled work. Participate in tree removal projects by assisting with cutting, dismantling, and debris cleanup to maintain safety standards. Help implement landscape maintenance routines including lawn care, plant pruning care, and general landscaping tasks. Follow strict safety protocols during all outdoor activities to prevent accidents and ensure team well-being. Utilize GIS (Geographic Information System) tools for mapping and documenting tree locations or landscape features when required. Experience Previous outdoor work experience preferred, especially in horticulture, landscaping, or land management roles. Familiarity with arborist tools such as chainsaws and other cutting equipment is advantageous. Knowledge of arborist rigging techniques, tree care practices, and tree trimming methods is a plus. Hands-on experience operating bucket trucks or similar equipment enhances your suitability for this role. Understanding of safety procedures related to climbing or working at heights is important. Growing experience in horticulture or dendrology (the study of trees) will support your development in this position. Additional skills such as lawn care, landscape maintenance, or land surveying using GIS are beneficial for advancing your career in arboriculture.
