Open Until Filled Employment Opportunity Under the supervision of the Parks Manager and the direct supervision of the Urban Forester, this position is responsible for assisting the Urban Forester in the care and maintenance of the City of Orem’s Urban Forestry program, performing a variety of duties focused on tree maintenance and care, including diagnostics and treatment, on all forestry assets on Orem City property. Duties to include, but not limited to, the application of a management plan including planting, pruning, spraying, protecting, and removal programs for public trees and associated vegetation; assistance with budget preparation; and interaction with the community (both public and private) with volunteer service groups, city-initiated public plantings, politicians, and other agencies. Qualifications Education High School diploma or G.E.D. Experience Two years of experience working in the tree industry. Must be knowledgeable in the use of tools of the trade for general arborist work. Must understand different tree diseases local to Utah and how to remedy and follow best practices. Licenses and Certifications Valid Utah Class B Commercial Driver License/ability to obtain Valid ISA Certified Arborist Certificate/ability to obtain Valid pesticide certification or the ability to acquire within 6 months of employment. Chainsaw Operator Training Certification or the ability to acquire within 6 months of employment Pay and Benefits Individual starting salary will depend on qualifications, certifications, and experience.
