Time Commitment :
September 21, 2026 - August 13, 2027 This is a full-time, 11-month, 1700-hour program from September 21, 2026 - August 13, 2027. Fellows in this position commit to a 40-hour work week, Tuesday - Saturday, approximately 8:00AM - 4:30PM, with occasional evening and weekend commitments based on project needs. 170-340 of these hours are dedicated to professional development. •Please note : Due to the full-time commitment of the Fellowship, students enrolled in undergraduate courses between Sep 21, 2026 - Aug 13, 2027 will not be eligible to participate in the California Climate Action Corps Fellowship. —— About the California Climate Action Corps Fellowship The California Climate Action Corps has over 400 positions available across California for the 2026-27 CCAC Fellowship. This is a climate-focused, workforce development program for emerging climate and environmental leaders. These are paid, full-time fellowships—similar to internships—with 170-340 dedicated hours for professional development and training, providing hands-on experience in the climate field. CCAC Fellows are matched with organizations across California to mobilize communities to take direct climate action and lead projects focused on wildfire resiliency, urban greening, and organic waste diversion. ——— Applications are accepted May 1 - July 31, 2026, with priority consideration given to applicants who apply and undergo a CCAC info session before June 19. ——— Program Benefits Fellows will gain hands-on experience collaborating with a diverse team of natural resource professionals, including ecologists, rangers, educators, and One Tam partners, while developing valuable skills in conservation, public engagement, and volunteer management. In the Spring, fellows can mentor a high school intern, and in the Summer, they will have the opportunity to lead a week-long youth internship team. Marin Water can also contribute to their participation in technical trainings and local conferences.

Are you passionate about climate action and forest health? Join Marin Water as a Community Climate Steward and help protect one of California's most treasured landscapes—Mt. Tamalpais. Marin Water is a leader in public stewardship initiatives, offering volunteer and educational opportunities that promote environmental resilience. While the Mount Tamalpais Watershed has been preserved as public land, ongoing and proactive stewardship is essential to address climate change threats. As a Steward, you will play a key role in mobilizing volunteers, fostering community partnerships, and implementing proactive forest management strategies to safeguard natural resources. By helping people understand the complex ecology of Mt. Tamalpais, you'll equip them with the knowledge and tools to take meaningful action. This position is an excellent opportunity to develop leadership, environmental education, and community organizing skills while making a lasting impact on local ecosystems. Duties include, but are not limited to: Recruit, lead, and coordinate volunteer programs—mobilizing 300+ volunteers for habitat restoration, fuel break trail maintenance, and community events—to enhance watershed and climate resilience Develop and implement outreach campaigns, creating engaging educational materials, signage, and flyers that communicate key messages on forest health, fire ecology, climate change, and conservation Design and deliver ecology-based lessons for high school students, connecting scientific principles to real-world wildfire land management and stewardship practices Train and mentor volunteers in invasive plant management, habitat restoration, and species monitoring to support climate-resilient ecosystems Track program data and analyze results to quantify climate impact Minimum Program Eligibility Requirements Live in California by August 14, 2026 Be at least 18 years of age by August 14, 2026 Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Must be a US Citizen, US National, or lawful US resident to participate Preferred Qualifications/Skills Ability to lift up to 30 lbs in diverse outdoor conditions (rain, wind, heat, steep or uneven terrain), and experience in community outreach, data/quantitative analysis, engaging with K-12 students, environmental education, environmental justice/equity, event coordination & planning, Google suite, habitat restoration, landscape management, marketing & social media, Microsoft Office Suite & Teams, multi-stakeholder collaboration, project management, public speaking/facilitation, traditional ecological knowledge, and volunteer management & engagement. Must possess a valid driver's license. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
