Job Overview ONE Club Gulf Shores is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and hands-on Greenhouse Horticulturist to lead the cultivation and care of fresh produce, herbs, vegetables, fruits, edible flowers, and specialty crops grown for our farm-to-table restaurant operation. This position will play an essential role in connecting our greenhouse directly to the ONE Club culinary experience. The Greenhouse Horticulturist will work closely with our Executive Chef and restaurant team to plan seasonal crops, maintain consistent production, harvest ingredients at peak freshness, and help create a true greenhouse-to-table dining experience for our residents, members, and guests. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of greenhouse cultivation, sustainable agriculture, irrigation, pest management, soil and nutrient health, and seasonal crop planning. This individual should take pride in producing beautiful, high-quality ingredients while maintaining an organized, productive, and visually appealing greenhouse environment. Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the ONE Club greenhouse and growing areas. Cultivate fresh herbs, vegetables, fruits, edible flowers, microgreens, and specialty produce for use by the ONE Club restaurant and culinary team. Work directly with the Executive Chef and culinary leadership to develop seasonal planting plans based on anticipated menu needs, restaurant volume, and special events. Establish and maintain planting, harvesting, and crop rotation schedules to provide the kitchen with a consistent supply of fresh ingredients. Perform planting, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, pruning, trimming, staking, harvesting, and general plant maintenance. Harvest produce at peak freshness and coordinate timely delivery of greenhouse products to the restaurant kitchen. Monitor plant health, growth, quality, and productivity and make adjustments to irrigation, nutrients, temperature, humidity, lighting, and ventilation as necessary. Operate and maintain irrigation systems and greenhouse environmental controls. Implement sustainable growing practices and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies to prevent and control pests and plant diseases while minimizing unnecessary chemical use. Maintain healthy soil and growing media through proper nutrient management, composting practices, amendments, and fertilization programs. Develop and follow Standard Operating Procedures for planting, harvesting, sanitation, irrigation, pest management, greenhouse maintenance, and crop rotation. Maintain detailed records of planting dates, varieties, expected harvest dates, crop yields, pest treatments, fertilizer applications, irrigation schedules, and greenhouse environmental conditions. Track greenhouse production and communicate anticipated harvest quantities and availability to the Executive Chef. Research and recommend new varieties, specialty produce, herbs, and unique ingredients that can enhance ONE Club's seasonal menus and dining experience. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and visually attractive greenhouse and surrounding growing areas. Ensure harvested produce is handled, cleaned, stored, and transported appropriately before being delivered to the restaurant. Follow applicable sanitation, food-safety, agricultural, and workplace safety practices. Maintain greenhouse tools, equipment, irrigation components, growing systems, and supplies. Assist with outdoor gardens, landscaping, raised beds, container gardens, or additional agricultural areas as needed. Help educate team members, residents, members, and guests about ONE Club's greenhouse and farm-to-table program when appropriate. Assist with greenhouse tours, culinary events, farm-to-table dinners, educational programs, or special events highlighting locally grown ONE Club ingredients. Support ONE Club's commitment to sustainability by identifying opportunities to reduce waste, conserve water, compost organic materials, and improve environmentally responsible growing practices. Qualifications & Experience Previous professional experience in greenhouse production, horticulture, agriculture, farming, market gardening, hydroponics, or commercial food production is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of vegetable, herb, fruit, microgreen, and edible plant production. Knowledge of greenhouse environmental systems, including irrigation, temperature, humidity, lighting, ventilation, and nutrient management. Experience with crop planning, succession planting, harvesting schedules, and crop rotation. Understanding of Integrated Pest Management and sustainable growing practices. Knowledge of plant diseases, pests, nutrient deficiencies, and appropriate corrective actions. Experience working with irrigation systems, gardening equipment, hand tools, and greenhouse equipment. Ability to maintain accurate production and inventory records. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with culinary, restaurant, maintenance, landscaping, and management teams. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, standing for extended periods, and working in warm greenhouse and outdoor environments. Basic mathematical skills for measuring fertilizers, nutrients, irrigation requirements, planting quantities, and projected crop yields. A passion for sustainable agriculture, culinary gardening, local food production, and creating exceptional farm-to-table experiences.
