A Farm, Nursery, or Greenhouse Worker propagates, cultivates and harvests plants, primarily flowers, trees, shrubs and sod, and other crops such as mushrooms that are grown in greenhouses, or grows and harvests farm crops such as grain, fruit or vegetables. Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.

These positions will support each other and may cover the alternate shift on occasion.

Job Summary
Scottsdale Community College is seeking a Barn Technician (Part-Time) for Equine Science.
The Equine Science office is seeking a dependable and student-focused Barn Technician to assist with the daily care and management of the college's equine facilities and horses.
This position will support the department through a variety of tasks. Care and management of 10 horses. Feeding and watering all horses. Ensure stalls, round pens, and arena area are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
Maintain clean stalls and clean water buckets for each horse. Maintain cleanliness and organization of hay shed and equipment shed. Monitor horse health, behavior, and overall condition; report concerns promptly, utilizing TPR's [if necessary] 6 point checks and observations. Maintain and perform turnout schedule of all horses. Report updates daily on all horses, equipment status, safety and inventory.
Respond to emergencies involving horse health, injury, or facility safety and report immediately to Equine program director any issues.
To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on equine facilities.
Desired Qualifications
Our preferred candidate will have one or more of these qualifications:
Two (2) years experience working with, handling, and caring for horses
Current enrollment in SCC Equine Science program
AAS degree in Equine Science
Special Working Conditions
Working with horses of all ages, conditions and temperaments.
Working outside in dust, rain, hot and cold temperatures.
Standing & walking for extended periods of time.
Lifting and carrying heavy objects.
Must be able to work with hay [Bermuda] without allergic reaction.
