Job Description

Farm and Equine Operations Assistant Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Farm and Equine Operations Assistant to support daily horse care and farm operations. Duties include stall cleaning, feeding horses, assisting with handling and general care, operating and maintaining farm equipment, and helping with overall facility upkeep. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, physically capable, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesHorse Care and Management Assist with daily feeding, watering, and monitoring of horses. Safely handle horses during turnout, grooming, and routine care. Observe and report any signs of illness, injury, or abnormal behavior. Support general horse management and barn organization. Barn and Facility Maintenance Clean and bed stalls, paddocks, and horse housing areas. Maintain clean, safe, and organized barn environments. Assist with fence repairs, grounds upkeep, and general maintenance. Help with manure and waste removal. Equipment Operation and Maintenance Operate tractors, skid steers, and other farm equipment safely. Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on machinery. Assist with troubleshooting and larger equipment repairs as needed. Keep tools and equipment in good working order. General Farm Duties Move hay, feed, bedding, and supplies as needed. Assist with seasonal projects and farm improvements. Support daily operations as directed by management. Follow all safety and biosecurity procedures. Qualifications Experience with horses and/or farm equipment preferred. Mechanical aptitude and basic repair skills a plus. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable transportation and strong attendance. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Working Conditions Indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions. Physically demanding role requiring standing, lifting, bending, and walking. Regular interaction with horses and machinery. Desired Characteristics Dependable and self-motivated. Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Comfortable working around animals and equipment.
