Farm Stand Associate 634 New London Tpke, Norwich, CT 06360 $17 an hour - Part-time $17 an hour - Part-time
ABOUT US
Malerba's Farm is a family owned and operated flower nursery and fruit/vegetable farm located in Norwich, CT. We grow seasonal fruits, vegetables and flowers for home gardeners and local businesses. Specialty items include our native corn and tomatoes, as well as local goods such as pies, honey, syrup, and eggs. Malerba's branded customer favorites include jams, jellies, salsa, pickles, peaches and more. We are open 7 days a week from the end of March through October 31st. Founded in 1920, we pride ourselves on providing our community with farm fresh produce and beautiful flowers.
POSITION DETAILS
Seasonal:
now through October 31
Hours:
We're hiring for morning, afternoon, and/or full day shifts. Morning shifts are typically from around 8:00am/9:00am - 1:00pm (during some parts of the season staff will come in for 7:45am to open the stand) and afternoon shifts are typically scheduled from 1:00pm - 5:15/5:30pm in the spring and 1:00pm-6:15/6:30pm in the summer/fall. We're open 7 days per week and need staff with weekday and weekend availability.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide exceptional customer service Assist customers in finding products and making purchase decisions Process transactions using a cash register system Maintain clean and organized store and greenhouse environments Monitor store inventory levels and restock products as needed Water and prune plants to ensure their health and attractiveness Provide customers with advice and guidance regarding plant care Receive and fulfill customer orders Assist with other farm tasks as needed (plant care, cleaning, loading/unloading delivery trucks, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS
Experience operating a cash register with accuracy Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays Excellent customer service and communication skills Interest and ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, rainy, sunny, or any and all conditions Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Ability to bend, lift, and carry 60 lbs intermittently Valid driver's license Must be at least 18 years of age Authorization to work in the United States
RECOMMENDED
We are willing to train, but experience in the following areas is beneficial: Basic knowledge of gardening
