Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.
Overview We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Husbandry Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide daily care for non-human primates used in biomedical research while ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare. Working alongside veterinary and research professionals, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and compliant environment that supports quality research and exceptional animal care. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about animal care, have strong attention to detail, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Provide daily care for non-human primates, including feeding, watering, and monitoring overall health and well-being. Clean, sanitize, and maintain animal housing areas according to established protocols. Ensure appropriate environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, and lighting, are maintained. Observe animals for any signs of illness, injury, or abnormal behavior and promptly report concerns to veterinary staff. Safely handle and restrain non-human primates for routine husbandry procedures as directed. Accurately document daily animal care activities and observations in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Maintain inventory of supplies and assist in keeping work areas organized and stocked. Follow all safety procedures, biosecurity protocols, and animal welfare regulations. Work closely with veterinarians, researchers, and fellow husbandry technicians to support ongoing research studies. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure consistent, high-quality animal care. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience working with laboratory animals, non-human primates, or in an animal care setting is preferred but not required. Basic understanding of animal behavior and husbandry practices. Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Comfortable working in a research environment while following strict safety and regulatory guidelines. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that require standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the workday.
Pay:
$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
