Job Summary Join our vibrant team as an Assistant Horticulturist and play a vital role in cultivating beautiful, healthy landscapes and plant collections. This dynamic position offers hands-on experience in horticultural practices, landscape maintenance, and plant care. You will work closely with seasoned horticulturists to support the growth and sustainability of diverse plant environments, ensuring they thrive and flourish. Duties Assist with greenhouse operations, including plant propagation, watering, pruning, and monitoring plant health Support landscape maintenance activities such as mowing, edging, mulching, and planting native species Operate grounds maintenance and landscaping equipment safely, including power tools and hand tools Identify plants accurately and assist with plant pest control and pesticide management protocols Maintain irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering schedules for various plantings Help with climbing plants and ground cover installations, ensuring proper support structures are in place Contribute to the care of lawns, gardens, and farming areas by applying horticultural best practices Communicate effectively with clients or visitors regarding plant care routines and landscape features Requirements Prior greenhouse experience or hands-on gardening background preferred Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques and grounds equipment operation Familiarity with plant identification, native plants, and growing techniques Preferred experience with pesticide management, pest control methods, and irrigation systems Ability to operate power tools safely and efficiently in outdoor environments Strong interest in horticulture, farming, landscaping, or agriculture fields Physical ability to perform climbing tasks and handle manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions Excellent communication skills for client interaction and teamwork Valid driver's license is a plus; willingness to learn new skills on the job Embark on a rewarding journey where your passion for plants meets professional growth!
