Job Description

Classification Title:
Agricultural Assistant I Classification Minimum Requirements:

Job Description:
The incumbent will assist in implementing vital research and extension projects. Tasks will include field preparation, planting, crop maintenance, collecting samples, harvesting and other crop production related activities. The incumbent will assist in basic equipment maintenance, repair, and modification for field equipment. Tasks will include servicing equipment, welding repairs and fabrication. The incumbent will assist as a member of the farm crew in helping with tasks in support of Center project areas as needed, including field vegetables and agronomic crops; greenhouse crops; and fruit, and nut orchard crops. The incumbent will assist in supporting field days, workshops, and other programmatic events within the scope of the mission at NFREC - Suwannee Valley and the region the Center serves.
Expected Salary:
$16.30/hr
Required Qualifications:
The ability to operate farm machinery (tractors, backhoes, combines, etc.). Experience with irrigation equipment operation and repair (pivot/drip). The ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others. Two years of experience.
