Job Description

About the role Palmer Pecan Company is looking for two experienced equipment operators to help run the wagon receiving side of our pecan cleaning plant during harvest season. The job is not especially physically demanding, but it requires your full attention. There are several things happening at once, and the operator must constantly monitor equipment, pecan flow, bin levels, trucks and trailers while also making sure each load is documented correctly. If you are the kind of person who notices when something doesn't look or sound right and handles equipment with care, this may be a very good fit. What you'll do Operate farm tractors, dump trucks, and pecan cleaning equipment Move and dump wagon loads containing thousands of pounds of pecans Carefully stage incoming pecans for cleaning and drying Monitor drying-bin fill levels and pecan flow Monitor the trash dump truck and dump trailer to prevent overfilling Keep an eye on machinery and surroundings throughout the process Enter and verify incoming wagon information accurately Make sure different growers' pecans are handled and routed correctly Communicate with the rest of a small seasonal crew to keep operations moving safely and efficiently What we're looking for Meaningful experience operating farm tractors, dump trucks, agricultural equipment, or similar heavy machinery Excellent attention to detail Strong situational awareness and good judgment around machinery Reliable and punctual Calm, steady, and comfortable managing several things at once Able to work independently without becoming distracted or complacent Valid driver's license Able to commute reliably to Fort Valley, GA CDL is helpful but not required Experience from farming, trucking, agricultural operations, equipment operation, public works, construction, or similar work is welcome.
