Job Summary If you're interested in an Entry Level Greenhouse Technician job, then this is the best role for you! This role supports daily greenhouse operations, including environmental controls, irrigation, plant propagation, equipment maintenance, and research activities. The role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multi-project team. Job Description Learn and operate greenhouse environmental control systems, program irrigation, and evaluate alarms. Support pot and tray preparation for plant propagation using automated pot-filling equipment. Perform routine greenhouse maintenance, including cleaning floors, organizing supplies, and maintaining work areas. Conduct hose and nozzle checks and clean evaporative cooling system components. Support greenhouse research setup and takedown activities. Prepare custom soil mixes using cement mixers and fill pots manually. Install irrigation systems and assist with research data collection. Remove and clean irrigation emitters after experiments. Create and contribute to greenhouse operation protocols. Perform routine functionality checks and troubleshooting of greenhouse chambers, equipment, light racks, bulbs, and waste systems. Drive work trucks between sites and off-site locations to transport plant materials and supplies. Participate in group and project meetings. Provide timely communication regarding operational updates, changes, or issues. Follow sanitation practices, standard operating procedures, and all safety and company policies. Skills Required 1-3 years of relevant experience. Interest in greenhouse operations, plant propagation, and irrigation. Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently. Strong organizational, observational, and communication skills. Basic math skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify operational issues. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-project environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work requirements. Education/Training/Certifications High school diploma or equivalent. Willingness to complete Ag Worker Training. Willingness to complete Pesticide Handler Training and work with or around pesticides as required. Additional Requirements Must be able to pass drug screenings and criminal background checks.
Start Time:
07:00 AM Comfortable working in greenhouse, outdoor field, and laboratory environments. Ability to work in physically demanding and occasionally adverse conditions. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift materials for extended periods. Ability to work independently and unsupervised on weekends and some holidays. Must be able to regularly drive a work truck between sites and off-site locations. Must maintain clean and organized work areas. Must follow all applicable health, safety, sanitation, and environmental procedures. Pay Rate/Salary Estimated Salary $12.30 to $20.30 per hour.
