Job Description

Sun Valley is seeking a dependable and skilled Ranch Hand for the 2026-2027 winter season to assist with day-to-day operations, maintenance, and horse care. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating equipment, maintaining property, and taking pride in keeping a ranch in excellent working conditions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with daily ranch operations, including fence repair, horse care, general maintenance, property upkeep, and other seasonal tasks. Build, repair, and maintain fences. Assist with irrigation tasks, cleaning of ditches, and basic repairs. Perform barn management tasks for the horses, including manure removal, stall cleaning, feeding, and managing their daily needs. Catch and handle horses, including helping with harnessing. Support winter resort activities and events such as wagon and sleigh rides as needed. Safely operate ranch equipment such as tractors, skid steers, backhoes, trucks, trailers and hand tools. Perform winter grounds upkeep, including de-icing and snow removal. Assist with office administrative tasks including answering/returning office phone calls, emails, and scheduling as needed. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and a positive working environment. Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous ranch, farm, groundskeeping, landscaping, equine or ranch experience. Proficient in operating various farm equipment such as tractors, skid steers and other ranch equipment and tools (drills, saws, hammers, weed eaters, etc.). Comfortable handling and working around large horses. Understanding of livestock management and safety needs. Ability to perform physical tasks that include heavy lifting, long hours, and working outdoors in varying winter weather conditions. Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license. Can frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Punctual, reliable, and possess a positive attitude. Flexible work hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
