Full-Time / Seasonal Position Summary The Farm Custom Applicator is responsible for safely and efficiently applying fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other agricultural products to farm fields using specialized application equipment. This position operates tractors, sprayers, spreaders, and other farm machinery while maintaining accurate application rates and following all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Operate agricultural sprayers, spreaders, tractors, and other application equipment. Apply fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and other crop inputs according to instructions and established application rates. Calibrate and inspect application equipment to ensure accurate and consistent application. Monitor field conditions, weather, crop conditions, and application requirements. Maintain accurate records of products applied, rates, acres treated, field locations, and operating hours. Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs on application equipment. Safely handle, mix, load, transport, and dispose of agricultural chemicals and materials in accordance with applicable regulations. Follow all company safety procedures and chemical-handling requirements. Operate equipment carefully to minimize crop damage, soil compaction, chemical drift, and environmental impact. Communicate with farm management regarding field conditions, application needs, equipment issues, and completed work. Assist with general farm operations and equipment duties as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Qualifications Previous experience operating farm equipment or agricultural application equipment preferred. Agricultural or farming experience strongly preferred. Ability to operate tractors, sprayers, spreaders, and related equipment safely. Ability to understand and follow chemical labels, application instructions, and safety procedures. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in changing field and weather conditions. Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance. Valid driver's license required. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required depending on equipment and job duties. Pesticide applicator license/certification preferred or required as applicable by state law. Ability to work extended hours during planting, spraying, and harvest seasons. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and operate farm machinery for extended periods. Ability to climb in and out of tractors, sprayers, and other agricultural equipment. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators or chemical-resistant clothing when required. $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
