A Farm, Nursery, or Greenhouse Worker propagates, cultivates and harvests plants, primarily flowers, trees, shrubs and sod, and other crops such as mushrooms that are grown in greenhouses, or grows and harvests farm crops such as grain, fruit or vegetables. Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.

Job Description

Break ice in water troughs so cattle can drink, operate tank heaters; provide hay as bedding for cattle, replace bedding as necessary to avoid contamination and disease; protect cattle from winter elements such as sleet, snow, ice, freezing temperatures; remove snow and ice from livestock facilities, administer medication to livestock to strengthen immune system during extreme weather; feed cattle during grass dormancy. Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries. The employer shall provide transportation in the form of bus, farm vehicle, van, or other common means between the place where the employer has provided housing to the actual work site and return at the end of the workday. Such transportation will be without cost to the worker, and the means of transportation shall meet all applicable safety standards. Daily transportation is also available at no cost to workers who do not reside in employer provided housing and are unable to return to their primary residence at the end of each day.
