A Farm, Nursery, or Greenhouse Worker propagates, cultivates and harvests plants, primarily flowers, trees, shrubs and sod, and other crops such as mushrooms that are grown in greenhouses, or grows and harvests farm crops such as grain, fruit or vegetables. Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.

Job Description

Goat Grazer Farmhand responsibilities are, but not limited to:
  • Move fencing twice a week to make paddocks for goats to rotate
  • Rotate goats through paddocks daily (one fence panel at a time)
  • Perform wellness checks on goats daily, check famacha weekly
  • Feed and water goats daily
  • Clear brush, cut saplings and briars after goats have cleared a hillside paddock
  • Conduct fecal testing (as instructed and/or needed) to analyze parasite loads and worm accordingly
  • Provide supplements (vitamins, minerals) and restock as needed
  • Maintain organization of barn, feed storage, farm garage, etc.
  • Attend staff meetings, individual and team meetings as requested to communicate questions, needs, problems and solutions that may arise for your position
  • Attend workshops and/or initiate self-directed learning for areas with no previous experience
  • Feed farm animals on weekends as needed Work Requirements
  • Must work on average a minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Must be on call in case of an emergency situation
  • Must be able to work in heat, high humidity, and extremely cold conditions
  • Experience with chainsaw operation is preferred, but not required
Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
