ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Care for horses that are in our custody. Make sure barn is kept clean. This includes mucking and disinfecting the stalls, scrubbing the walls and scrubbing the water buckets after the horse leaves. Check halter tags on horses prior to horse loading on van and upon arrival into barn from van. Load/Unload horses onto vans from barn. Check health papers when loading and unloading horses for destination requirements. Communicate any health concerns about horses that in are in the barn. Communicate with office about horses going in and out of barn. Communicate any safety concerns regarding horses or driver safety with the horses. Assist the drivers with safety advice if they are loading/unloading horses. Drive company muck truck to dump the muck. Keep Sallee property clean. This includes the front lot, field next to office and grounds behind the fence. Make sure strings from straw bales and trash are kept off grounds. Rake yard around barn to maintain cleanliness. In the summer months, mow, weed eat, use blower to keep lots clean, etc… In the winter months, snow and ice removal as necessary. Assist in truck wash procedures, as needed. Any additional duties assigned by supervisor. In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs and have the strength and agility to handle any and all horses, muck stalls into muck truck, fill and carry water buckets to stalls, load/unload straw from straw trailer, and bed down stalls. Must be able to operate all landscape equipment.
EXPERIENCE
Must have related experience in the industry and knowledge of horses, especially Thoroughbreds. Must have previous experience with mowing, use of weed eater, etc…
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Individual must have the ability to read and interpret documents in English such as health papers for the horses, safety regulations, Bills of Ladings, and Company Policies and Procedures. Must have the ability to complete routine forms.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
