Schedule Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday. Satisfactory CORI, SAFIS and SORI required. Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer License and Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources Applicator License (Required within probationary period) Snow removal responsibilities required during inclement weather. Bilingual preferred. ESSEX NORTH SHORE AGRICULTURAL & TECHNICAL SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION GREENHOUSE AND HORTICULTURE SPECIALIST QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science degree in a related field preferred 5 years of horticulture and greenhouse operation experience Knowledge of methods, materials, and practices in horticulture Valid driver's license Valid Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer 1C-2A license(Required within probationary period) Valid Massachusetts Pesticides license (Required within probationary period) OSHA 30 Fruit growing experience preferred Familiar with the operation of farm equipment Ability to work independently and prioritize work tasks
REPORTS TO
Manager of Farm
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform all aspects of horticulture and greenhouse operations. Directly responsible for the operation of three greenhouses and hoop house. Knowledge of controlled environment agriculture. Completes routine maintenance on greenhouse equipment to maintain reliability and sustain operations. Plant and remove trees, shrubs, flowers, and sod, as required. Knowledge of landscaping operations. Communicate inventory and supply needs to Manager of Farm and Grounds. Assist with the harvesting and stacking of hay bales each year. Keeps all working areas clean and organized. Assume any other duties consistent with the position when assigned by the Manager of Farm and Grounds. Assist in the operation of the farm stand and sale of merchandise. Work alongside instructional staff in Plant Science and Culinary Arts program to engage student learning.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position is a twelve-month position at 40 hours per week. This position may require a weekend schedule. The holder of this position must be willing to develop professionally in the field. This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees, Council 93, Local 245, and the School District.
