Immediately Job Description Essex North Shore is seeking a Large Animal Specialist to join the Facilities, Farm and Grounds Department. The Large Animal Specialist is responsible for the daily supervision of large animals, more specifically, cattle and other livestock. The Large Animal Specialist plays a critical role in the oversight of animal health and wellbeing. Satisfactory CORI, SAFIS and SORI required. Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer License and Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources Applicator License (Required within probationary period) Snow removal responsibilities required during inclement weather. Bilingual preferred. JOB DESCRIPTION
Large Animal Specialist
FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT

CLASSIFICATION
This position is classified as Non-Exempt. (Overtime eligible)
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Large Animal Specialist reports to the Manager of Farm and Grounds.
QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive experience in the administration of hygienic procedures for animals; Working knowledge of animal behavior and cognition; Familiarity with large animals and equine preferred; Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with efficiency and respect; Effective communication skills; Valid Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer 1C-2A license(Required within probationary period); Valid Massachusetts Pesticides license (Required within probationary period); OSHA 30; Basic to advanced knowledge of computer technologies; High School Diploma or equivalent required;
DUTIES:
Performs all aspects of large animal management including bathing, inspecting, feeding and unlicensed medication administration. Assists with the general operation of the farm facilities towards ensuring educational success. Directs student workers, in the absence of the Manager of Farm and Grounds regarding roles and responsibilities. Manages inventory for large animals such as supplies and feeding materials. Coordinates veterinary checks for animals that appear in distress or requiring medical attention. Performs other duties as required and assumes such other responsibilities as the Manager of Farm and Grounds may assign.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires prolonged periods of walking and bending over. Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times. The position may require in and out-of-district travel.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a 12-month position. The nature of this position requires hours beyond the regular school day. It is expected that the person filling this position will give priority to completing the necessary tasks and set hours accordingly. Salary and fringe benefits are established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the District and AFSCME Council 93, Local 245.
