Job Description

Overview Part-Time Farm Equipment Operator - Seasonal Ernst Grain & Livestock is looking for an experienced, part-time Farm Equipment Operator to assist with field operations on our family farm in Clear Spring, MD. Our immediate need is for the upcoming fall planting and harvest season, with the opportunity for continued seasonal work throughout the year. This position is a great fit for an experienced farmer or equipment operator looking for flexible, part-time work while staying involved in agriculture. Responsibilities Operate tractors and farm equipment Operate a grain drill and assist with planting Assist with harvest and other field operations Move tractors and equipment between farms and fields Assist with grain handling and harvest logistics Operate farm trucks hauling grain, depending on experience Perform basic equipment inspections and maintenance Other seasonal farm duties as needed Qualifications Previous farm equipment operating experience Comfortable operating and learning newer agricultural equipment Able to safely operate and move farm equipment on public roads Basic mechanical knowledge Dependable and able to work independently Valid driver's license Flexible availability during busy farming seasons Previous CDL or farm truck driving experience is a plus, but a current CDL is not required We operate newer tractors and farm equipment equipped with GPS guidance, autosteer, and other modern technology. Previous experience with these systems is helpful but not required. We are willing to train someone with a good farming background who is comfortable learning new equipment. Schedule This is a flexible, part-time position with hours based on weather, field conditions, workload, and availability. Our immediate need is for fall planting and harvest, with the opportunity for additional seasonal work during spring planting, small grain harvest, and other busy periods throughout the year.
