JOB SUMMARY
Are you passionate about plants and love working outdoors? Join our team and play a vital role in transforming and maintaining the stunning landscapes of John Ball Zoo and its surroundings. As a Seasonal Horticulture Aide, you'll get your hands dirty planting, weeding, and watering vibrant flora, ensuring our grounds are always a visual delight. You'll also help with cleanup, mulch spreading, and general garden maintenance. This is your chance to make a lasting impact on our beautiful gardens while enjoying the fresh air and scenic views. PAY RATE
: Starting at $14.00 an hour We are looking for someone to work three days a week start right away through Mid November.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs basic horticulture functions of pruning, planting, weeding, mulching, trimming, mowing, and general landscape cleanup. Operates mowers, edgers, trimmers and other equipment to install and/or maintain lawns, grasslands, slopes, wetlands and drainage ditches and to repair soil erosion. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures and practices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Incumbent will work in various environments both inside and outside and may occasionally be exposed to inclement weather, temperature and air quality variations. Must be able to work in relative proximity to exotic and domestic animals and tolerate exposure to animal dander, animal wastes and other zoonotic contaminants as well as dust, dirt, pollen and other airborne contaminants. While performing the essential functions of this position the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical hazards; noxious fumes; blood borne pathogens; cleaning compounds; solvents; detergents; noise; and other hazards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to navigate entire zoo grounds to access workstations. Must be able to communicate effectively and exchange information accurately. Must have sufficient visual acuity to visually assess and monitor structural features, fixtures, furnishings, and operating and security systems Must have sufficient mobility to access all areas of the Zoo and to access, enter, and maneuver in confined spaces Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch for extended periods, multiple times a day while performing tasks such as weeding, planting, or edging. Occasional climbing or reaching overhead to trim trees or access elevated areas.
WHAT WE REQUIRE
