Job Description

PART-TIME LIVESTOCK FARMHAND
Wanderwood Farmstead is looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors and is comfortable with physical, hands-on work. This is a working farm—livestock, weather, mud, and long to-do lists. It's honest work with clear expectations and a small team that works well together. We operate on 40 acres in Lake Ann, raising heritage-breed pigs, cattle, goats, and sheep using practical, regenerative methods. What the job is like You'll be part of a small, hands-on team. Some tasks are independent, but most work—especially livestock handling and larger projects—is done together.
A typical day might include:
Feeding, moving, and working with livestock Cleaning barns, pens, and equipment Fencing, brush clearing, and pasture work General farm labor and small projects Basic equipment use and maintenance (we'll train you) Work is coordinated daily based on priorities. You'll be given clear direction and trusted to follow through.

Are comfortable around animals and outdoor conditions Like physical work and staying active Prefer working with your hands instead of sitting all day Show up consistently and follow through Not a good fit if you: Need constant supervision Want easy or predictable work Dislike dirt, weather, or livestock Requirements Comfortable around livestock and basic equipment Able to perform physical labor outdoors in all weather Able to lift 50 lbs regularly (occasionally more) Basic familiarity with hand tools Helpful, but not required: Farm, construction, or general labor experience Equipment experience (tractor, skid steer, etc.) Fencing, chainsaw, or land clearing experience Basic mechanical skills Schedule Wanderwood Farmstead is hiring two part-time Farmhands to provide routine livestock coverage. One opening is for weekday evening chores, and one is for weekend daytime coverage. Applicants may apply for either schedule or indicate availability for both.
Evening opening:
Weekday evening feed, water, containment, and basic livestock wellness checks, with additional observation during birthing season; approximately 15 hours per week Weekend opening: Saturday and Sunday feeding, watering, livestock checks, and routine farm chores; approximately 15 hours per week Pay & Benefits $14.00 - $18.00 per hour, depending on experience 1.25x pay for work outside scheduled hours Employee discount on farm products Workers' compensation About Wanderwood Farmstead We're a veteran-family-owned farm focused on practical, regenerative livestock production.
