Job Description

Join our team! Hermann and Tri-County Veterinary Clinic is hiring a full-time Large Animal Assistant. This team member will start at our Hermann location for training and to provide coverage for the next year, then will eventually transition to our Owensville location. This team member will assist veterinarians with appointments, care for livestock boarding at the clinic, assist clients with product selection/purchase and help maintain the barn and equipment. The duties for this position include unloading and loading groups of cattle, moving cattle between pens, working cattle through the chute system, and assisting veterinarians on farm calls. This position also includes horse and goat/sheep handling. Administering vaccines and medication to animals. In addition to caring for the animals, this position includes cleaning up messes they leave behind. This includes cleaning chute system, scraping and cleaning pens, cleaning instruments, and some basic maintenance.
Requirements for the job:
Cattle experience is required. Must be able to efficiently move cattle in a calm and quiet manner. Must be available to work 4 weekdays and rotating Saturday hours (7:30am-noon) Must be physically capable of quickly running/jumping/climbing/and otherwise getting yourself out of the path of angry cows. Must be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds. The successful candidate will join a team of large animal assistants and veterinarians. The ability to communicate clearly, work independently on a task, and work as part of a team is essential.
