Job Description

Are you conservation minded and interested in improving soil health and water quality? If so, this is the job for you. You will be assisting landowners with the implementation of state cost-share programs such as designing terrace systems, waterways, ponds, spring developments, cover crops and more. The Caldwell County Soil & Water Conservation District is accepting applications for a District Technician. This position is full time day shift Monday-Friday. Benefits include health insurance, retirement, sick leave, annual leave and paid holidays. Starting hourly wage is $17.16 with advancement opportunities. These advancements are based on a progression line, along with required testing milestones. Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting landowners with the implementation of state cost-share programs; surveying/staking in the field and designing the cost-share practice in the office using specialized software; perform practice check-out verification by following policy and specifications; meet with landowners and contractors for pre-construction conferences. The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and to travel over rough terrain is required. The applicant must have good communication skills, basic computer skills, possess the ability to work under high workloads at peak times and be able to adapt to day to day changes. Basic farm knowledge/experience or the ability to use surveying instruments is helpful but not required. High school diploma or GED and real id driver's license are required.
