Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a progressive dairy operation in North Carolina who is seeking a motivated Herdsman to support the Dairy Manager in all aspects of the dairy while preparing for increased management responsibilities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid dairy background who is eager to learn, accepts coaching, asks questions, and wants to build a long-term career in dairy management. Responsibilities include assisting with herd health, reproduction, calf and heifer care, fresh cow management, feeding replacement animals, and maintaining accurate records using herd management software. The successful candidate will work closely with the Dairy Manager, veterinarian, and management team to ensure established protocols are followed while promoting excellent animal health and overall herd performance. Additional responsibilities include assisting with inventory and supply management, operating farm equipment, maintaining facilities, supporting calf and heifer development, and helping ensure the dairy operates efficiently on a day-to-day basis. The individual will also assist with facility appearance and may participate in agritourism activities or educational tours as needed. The employer is looking for a hands-on individual who enjoys working with both cattle and people, has a strong work ethic, and wants the opportunity to grow professionally within an expanding dairy operation. Extensive management experience is not required; the emphasis is on finding the right individual who is teachable, communicates well, and demonstrates leadership potential.

- Previous dairy experience with a basic understanding of herd health, reproduction, and daily dairy operations
- Strong desire to learn and grow into a dairy management role
- Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with management, employees, veterinarians, and nutritionists
- Experience or willingness to learn herd management software, including PCDART and DelPro
- Ability to operate a skid steer, tractor, loader, and other farm equipment
- Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to take initiative
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
