Founded in 1995, Kiefer Nursery is one of Durham's largest nurseries, offering both retail nursery plants for the avid gardener and wholesale nursery crops to the Triangle's finest landscape contractors. We are looking for an experienced, hardworking individual to join our nursery growing team as an Assistant Grower. Day to day responsibilities will include maintaining plants, weeding, fertilization, chemical applications, and helping out wherever you see a need at the nursery, including providing some customer service. Plant knowledge is very important for this role, specifically perennials, shrubs, and trees. A background in a retail or wholesale nursery would make you an excellent candidate. This is a role for a highly independent motivated individual that wants to expand their skills in growing unique and interesting landscape plants. You will work closely with our Grower to provide the best quality plants for our customers. You will get hands on experience with our extensive portfolio of perennial flowers, conifers, Japanese Maples, carnivorous plants, and much more. Load plants into both customer and client vehicles, and properly secure loads Work in all outdoor conditions Safely operate company vehicles, including a 20' box truck Operate equipment including the following: Tractor, skid steer loader, UTV, articulating loader Delegate tasks to team members to make sure the job is done quickly, thoroughly, and accurately. Able to rapidly adapt to changes

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years of nursery industry experience, or 2 years of relevant education plus 1 year industry experience. Plant knowledge, specifically perennials, shrubs, and trees. Plant growing experience, preferably in a retail or wholesale nursery.
